By the Casa Marari team Updated
The best way to experience Marari is slowly. Casa Marari is built for exactly that: a big lawn shaded by coconut palms, a calm canal in front of the gate and free equipment for every guest.
Cycle to the beaches
We keep six bicycles for guests. Ride west along Chethy Beach Road to Chethy Beach in about 10 minutes, or south to Marari Beach. The village lanes are flat, quiet and lined with coconut groves, small temples and churches, and homes with their own fishponds. Go early — around 7 am the light is soft and the roads are empty.
Paddle the canal
A small canoe and rowing boat are tied up on the canal in front of the property. It is a calm, narrow waterway — perfect for an easy paddle, watching kingfishers and herons, or simply drifting. You paddle yourself; children should always go with an adult.
Try fishing
Fishing rods are available for guests who want to try their luck from the canal bank. Early evening is usually best.
Games on the lawn
- Badminton court and a basketball pole for active afternoons
- Hammocks and a swing under the palms for lazy ones
- Carrom and board games for rainy days and evenings
Guests with children tell us the outdoor space is one of the best things about Casa Marari — there is room to run around safely while adults relax.
Eat local
End the day with a barbecue or a Kerala dinner cooked in our kitchen, or a candle-lit dinner on the lawn for a special occasion.
