Non-AC Villa near Marari Beach

A standalone Kerala-style cottage with a sloping tiled roof, ceiling fans and its own verandah — simple, breezy and budget-friendly.

The Non-AC Villa is our simplest and most affordable way to stay near Mararikulam Beach. It is a standalone, traditional Kerala-style cottage — red laterite walls, a sloping tiled roof and a small verandah — set on the lawn among coconut palms.

Built for the climate

Traditional Kerala houses were designed to stay cool without air conditioning: thick walls, high sloping roofs and windows on opposite sides to catch the sea breeze. Our villa follows the same idea, with ceiling fans for still evenings. It is ideal from November to February, when nights at Marari are pleasantly cool.

Who the villa suits

  • Budget travellers and backpackers exploring Alleppey
  • Couples who prefer fresh air to air conditioning
  • Groups who want an extra room alongside the Deluxe AC rooms

Same garden, same freedom

Villa guests get everything the property offers — bicycles, the canoe on the canal, hammocks, badminton and basketball, carrom and board games, and our Kerala kitchen. Marari and Chethy beaches are a short ride away.

  • “We got lucky with a last minute booking. Property surpassed all my expectations. The road to the property is very narrow with tight turns. Once you enter there's plenty of outdoor space with lots for young children — a basketball pole, badminton court, pedal bikes, swing, and hammock. Carrom board and board games for those who stay indoors. Rooms were spacious, well equipped and clean. Bathrooms are spacious with a roofless shower which is a nice touch. They do onsite barbecue if you order ahead. There are restaurants nearby who will deliver to the property. Overall we enjoyed really well. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Would recommend for a large family with kids.”

  • “We took the whole property of 6 rooms for a night stay on a family staycation. What stood out was the hospitality and cleanliness. They were extremely flexible about how we choose to eat — bringing in food, ordering with them or even ordering directly from nearby restaurants. Extra beds were given generously. They had a fridge and oven so we could bring in our food and eat it fresh. A small boat was available for rowing. Thanks to the whole team for making our stay memorable.”
